How trades are graded
Value is a player’s fantasy points per game under this league’s scoring, minus what the best freely available player at his position scores — a kicker worth 9 a week in a league where the wire has an 8-point kicker is worth 1. That is multiplied by the NFL games his team has left in the fantasy season after the trade, byes excluded.
Points per game this season are padded with 4 games at last season’s rate, so one monster week does not make a player a star. Replacement level today: QB 17.7, RB 8.6, WR 7.8, TE 7.6, K 8.3, DEF 6.2 points per game.
A side’s grade is its share of all the value that changed hands: around 50% is a C and a fair trade, 70% or more is an A+, and 38% or less is an F.
Who received whom comes from the rosters before and after the trade, since Yahoo’s trade records do not always say. Until a roster confirms it, a trade is listed without a verdict. Every line of commentary is generated from these numbers; none of it is made up, even when it is rude.
